Another $350 million this program would cost, to encourage people to trade in their old jalopies for a new auto. Nothing like pouring more money after bad, nothing like embalming the harmful, dead culture around which our society has been built.
Until we let dinosaurs like the auto industry die, we can't move forward to a better future.

And despite the billions into GM/Chrysler et al., there is noting for victims of auto accidents for these makers.

"U.S. taxpayers have given 50 billion to rescue General Motors, but the company says it should not have to pay a penny to people harmed by known defects in its vehicles."
I can't remember, sorry, but I read last week the same is coming to our neck of the woods. Except a little different if I remember correctly. The 'standards' for auto victims will be raised and the compensation will be little or nothing.
How very fiscally conservative of you.
Strange to hear the progressive side of the blogosphere advocating for more restraint in government spending and better laissez-faire capitalism in the economy.
OMG, you've been blessed by a visit from "Raphael" "Alexander".
Per our blog's title, Daphne and I challenge the commonplace no matter where we find it, Raphael. We most definitely aren't your stereotypical progressive (whatever the heck that term has come to mean)!
Good lord. Isn't the world in enough ecological danger without urging us to make garbage and drive more?? Since we now effectively own GM why not shift it to production of mass transit?
A large number of people have suggested that, including me on this blog and Michael Moore. Unfortunately, long-term vision and common sense do not coincide with political ambitions.
